Yes, Sanji and Zoro fight constantly, but afterwards Sanji goes back to the galley as happy as can be.

Growing up in the baratie, teasing each other, throwing insults, it was the language he learned to speak

And he knew just as well that Zoro grew up a fighter, that testing himself against others he considered strong, fighting without inent to harm, was Zoros language in much the same way.

And it was freeing to meet each other, have these playful conversations daily, to blow off stress with someone who spoke their language

Sanji heard people comment on how badly the two of them got along, but he laughed it off. These strangers dont understand them at all.

But then Usopp says it.

Sanji is confused. Because Usopp must know that the two of them are friends. Maybe even best friends, happy to share a drink, or their chores, or even the quiet together

But then Nami says it

And now Sanji is questioning everything. Has he been misinterpreting Zoro this whole time? Maybe Zoro had never been asking for a sparring partner. Maybe Zoro didnt know how to say he didnt enjoy spending their time together.

So when Zoro teases him he starts biting back his own taunts. Swallowing all the things he normally would say.

When Zoro challenges him, Sanji will meet him just as always, not willing to take away from Zoros training if thats all he can offer the man.

Sani finds theres less joy in himself when he returns to the galley after these one sided talks.

Zoro for his part has no idea whats going on with the Cook, doesnt understand the way hes holding back. Their captain is all about freedom, yet Zoro watches as Sanji locks a part of himself away.

He racks his brain for something hes said or done to have the cook shut him out like this but cant think of anything. He could try to ask, but the common tongue had never been Zoros strong suite

When they land at a new island and Sanji volunteers to be the one to stay behind Zoro knows something is up. The cook loves to explore new places and explore new markets.

So Zoro takes the pocket change Nami allowed him and instead of looking for a bar he went searching for something else.

It took a while, and took even longer for him to make it back - someone decided to put a whole forest between this harbor town and the docks while he was shopping - the food he was carrying had long gone cold, but hopefully it still tasted fine.

He pushed his way into the kitchen and dropped the plates on the counter. "Local specials" he said with a shrug, hoping that the Cook would understand all the things he was trying to say with this.

"And...why are you bringing them here?"

"So you can try them." Zoro huffed and quickly looked away, "maybe it will improve your cooking, shit-cook"

Sanji was just staring at the dishes, leaving zoro to squirm internally, knowing he wouldnt have the words to explain more than that.

"Zoro," Sanji started cautiously, still looking at the plates rather than at the swordsman, "are we friends?"

Zoros head whipped around to stare at Sanji like he was stupid. "What are you, stupid?! Of course we're friends idiot!"

Sanjis face instantly flushed red with anger "oh you are certainly not someone who should be calling other stupid you directionally challenged, mossheaded, excuse for a swordsman -"

It wasnt long before insults, swords, and legs were flying, smashing into each other in ways they both understood.

Nami sighed, hearing them clash once again. Shaking her head and lamenting how those two can never just sit down and talk to each other.

Luffy laughs. He hears what they are saying just fine.

Luffy was reckless. You knew that when you decided to be in a relationship with him, today though, didn’t go as planned. Thanks to a certain captain.

The crew decided to dock on an weird island, they planned to stay there for a couple days because the merry needed repairs.

Luffy, as always, was the first one out of the ship along with you being dragged by him. At this point, Everyone was used to this, even you so it wasn’t that surprising. What WAS surprising to everyone was the events that’ll happen

After jumping out of the ship, luffy dragged you toward a restaurant, it was full of people so it took a while for the food to arrive. While the both of you were waiting, you noticed a group of men who have been staring at the two of you since you entered. You didn’t really pay attention to them since you figured they were staring at you because they knew who luffy was. But there faces said differently.

It was starting to get uncomfortable for you but you still ignored it till he both of you excited the restaurant, luffy wanted to explore the island so you took some food to go because you knew he would get hungry. What you didn’t know was the same group of men following the two of you.

Once the two of you were alone, the men tried attacking you, luffy of course took them all out in one single swing, but one of them let out some sort of mist before he got punched by luffy again. Once you noticed the mist, it was too late. You and luffy already breathed it in… but nothing happened, you figured that the mist you breathed in wasn’t enough for the effects to work, but it was still in your mind.

Eventually, the two of you decided to head back to the ship, but on the way, luffy began to wonder…

“Y/n, does this mean I’m a girl?”

You nearly tripped

“..what-?”

He pointed at his chest, “does THIS mean I’m a the girl and your the guy now?” He added

That’s when you noticed

“WHAT?? WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN??”

“When we breathed in that weird mist from that mist guy”

“WELL WHY DIDNT YOU SAY ANYTHING??”

“Because I thought you knew!” He defended

“So does it?”

“I swear to god”

You began to drag him back to the ship

Unsurprisingly when the two of you arrived, everyone was confused. Usopp and chopper kept looking at the two of you dumbfounded while nami and Robin had shocked looked on their faces. Sanji didn’t know how to feel and Zoro could barely process anything considering he just woke up from his usual nap!

You didn’t have the energy to explain and you doubt luffy understood what was going on so you told them in the simplest explanation

“We ran into some trouble on our way”

Unsurprisingly, they still had MANY questions that you u weren’t in the mood to answer as y headed to bed tired from the previous events

one piece liveblog - fishman island, punk hazard, and dressrosa

i should log some of my more recent thoughts on one piece over here because ive had a lot lately.

currently, my favourite characters are usopp, franky, law, and robin. since his return in punk hazard ive been really enjoying law, i see why he's so popular!

to be honest, i really didnt care for the fishman island saga like i thought i would. i was really excited to get to it, but i really didnt find it that engaging. i didnt care for the villains at all to be honest. even with their backstory. fisher tiger and jinbe are awesome, no doubt about it, but i honestly don't even remember the villain of fishman island's name. i just found them all kinda grating, except the cuttlefish guy, he was really funny.

punk hazard felt like a sort of return to what i enjoy most about one piece. i think my major issue with fishman island is that most of the crew barely felt like they did anything, or had much of importance to contribute to the arc. it was also lacking a kind of whimsy that i admire a lot about one piece, in a way that's hard to describe. i guess i find the whole fishman human conflict kind of contrived, or something about the set-up of the queen's backstory ticked me off in some way. it just didn't feel very compelling and i found it a little silly in a way that definitely wasn't intended by oda.

anyways, i was watching some old vods by RTVS and they mentioned onepace at some point, so i started using that at the end of fishman saga and have been sticking with it through dressrosa.

punk hazard and ESPECIALLY dressrosa have been great for like, character autonomy. they've all got their own motivations and are working together or separating based on them in really interesting ways. i've really enjoyed franky in this arc so far, with his conviction to the dwarves & helping the army to fight doflamingo. rebecca and the tin soldier are really compelling to me as well, although i really don't like rebecca's outfit.

some of the new characters that've been introduced i've really come around to as well! iwas a little dubious on bartolomeo and cavendish, but i've really turned aroudn on them -- especially bartolomeo. he's a really fun character with an awesome design, personality, and powers. the tin soldier is also a highlight, i love the way he fights and moves around. the lore with the toys on dressrosa is sooooo fucked up, especially what happened to the previous king... i was like. Jesus Christ lmao.

dressrosa's arc really captured my imagination so far, which is why i decided to have my first one piece OCs hail from there. love the spanish influence.

hell, i've even been enjoiying sanji again! i found him so deeply insufferable during fishman island and it was honestly really frustrating to watch him most of the time because of it. but it has been kind of getting better, or his love of women is being used in more constructive ways instead of driving the plot to a standstill and getting in the way. i actually find him and viola's dynamic pretty fun and interesting.

back to punk hazard, i want to say that i found the "fight" with zoro, monet, and tashigi a massive letdown and honestly frustrating. using zoro in this role of "i wont fight you because youre a girl" was aggravatingly OOC not just internally, but like, externally in oda's use of zoro in the past. that fight between monet and tashigi deserved to be much more compelling than it was, and i do think it's fine that zoro considered them beneath him internally, like thinking of him as a person, but oda is the one who put these women in these positions, made them react and interact with zoro in this way. it was pretty annoying.

anyways, i'm absolutely LOVING dressrosa so far. all the whimsy is back. the character-driven decisions & interactions are in full force and with all the charm i've come to love from one piece. it's a really deeply enjoyable arc and although i haven't finished it, it's definitely going to rank high among my favourites

Be ready reader, This man will jumpscare you anytime of the day as a 'game' with Usopp and Chopper

Sometimes he will unknowingly jumpscare you

Always that type that waits for you at the corner of a hallway or hides behind the door

Will even make himself bigger by making himself a balloon

Zoro:

Doesn't really care

Will be woken up by your screams if his near

If he needs sleep, he will either shut up the person jumpscaring you or move to a quiet part of the ship

Nami:

Will firstly find it rediculous that your scared because of a jumpscare

Will immediately regret that thought when Usopp mistaken her as you, Usopp was wearing a mask of something scary

She slapped Usopp hard after that, throwing the mask onto the ocean

Will not accompany you in hallways. EVER

Sanji:

Man to the rescue!

Will be irritated by the people scaring you, kicking their head if they didnt run fast enough

Also one time got scared because of Luffy and Usopp

Let's just say the two was hanged upside down

Sanji couldn't sleep that night

The mask they used was something he wanted to forget of that island

Ussop & Chopper:

One of the main people scaring you

Both of them joined Luffy's game of 'Scaring {Name} the most'

Feels bad at first but finds it funny after

They will treat you if they scared you that much

Scaring {Name} at night is prohibited, Its scary-

The masks are mostly Usopp's idea

Reason why they keep continuing to scare you? Because they know that they wont get hurt by you (Aside the rest of the strawhats)

Robin:

ALSO, One of the people scaring you

But not everyday, At least once a week

She scares you that much that you couldn't sleep very well

Will treat you or buy anything you want after

Main shit that will scare you? A scary duplicate of herself with several arms holding you back as she walks slowly towards you with something sharp. (Could scrape a wound on you)

She doesn't tho

Franky:

Responsible for sound effects

Will make something for the the trio to make their masked character be more realistic

Will be close to be able to watch his work

Records everything with the recording snail-

Jimbei:

Will laugh

Can't really get on the way of the captain

Could only soothe you by telling stories of his past

Only safest someone you could rely to not scare you

Too bad his close to Robin, making it easier for her to scare you

Brook:

A walking jumpscarer-

He could scare you even when not trying-

I think Luffy would definitely be a son of Hermes (god of thieves, travelers, merchants). No explanation just vibing with the idea.

Ares (god of violent war, rage and all that stuff) is a pretty obvious choice for Zoro.....but damn am i tempted to make him a son of Dionysus just for shits and giggles bc “haha alcohol”. but i think Ares is a much more fitting choice haha

honestly?? like for real?? Nami as a daughter of Poseidon (god of seas, storms, horses). I’m gonna say it right here and now since we’re doing this: I feel like i see a lot of people put main female characters in the Aphrodite area of Greek god/godly children aus and I’m not into it. or maybe I’m just seeing things lol idk. anyway, i think it fits her well cause she knows how to navigate waters well and uses storm related abilities in canon so...yeah I’m liking this placement

Usopp was kinda hard to pinpoint who’s godly parent i wanted assigned to him. i thought about Apollo, since hes the god of archery (among MANY other things) and it fits with my mans cool ass sniper skills. but it didnt fit that much. i thought about Demeter since he has those plant things post ts, but still didnt fit with the vibes. and then it hit me.....now here me out, stay with me.....Usopp as a son Zeus (god of the sky, thunder, lightning, King of the Gods)... now LISTEN. I feel like that parallels well with his canon relationship with his father, his dad being a pirate and him wanting to live up to that but viewing himself as weak. and Zeus is the king of the gods and I THINK THAT ITS A COOL MIRROR OK!! let me have this, i want him to be a son of Zeus with no major powers but tries to prove himself anyway ok. Also God Usopp.

Now look...I agree, Apollo would have been a GREAT choice for Sanji. Flirty, blonde (is most interpertations), poetic, extremely bisexual...theres a lot of parallels u could make. BUT. Consider MY opinion: Sanji as a son of Aphrodite (Goddess of love, beauty, lust, sexuality). Flirty TO THE MAX. He’s ball about love!! Even if canon wont show it, my boi is in love with love. and hes rlly pretty i think. He’s the type to use a winky face at an enemy in an attempt to distract them (in my opinion lol). Lust, sexuality, love...it’s HIM guys. like i wanna write a deep character study fic on this now just cause i love this idea so much. (also my zosan shipping ass seeing Ares and Aphrodite like—)

If we wanna go basic than we can assign Chopper with Apollo since he is a god of medicine and healing. BUT. Asclepius, the god of medicine and healing who is a son of Apollo, seems like much better pick. thats all this one was simple and i love my son

I really couldnt decide whether to make Robin a daughter of Persephone (goddess of spring, queen of the underworld; it goes with her aesthetic and her flower related powers what a queen) or Hecate (goddess of magic and witchcraft i just want a cool witchy power theme here). i still cant decide tbh. I think I’m going with Persephone tho.

My mind immedeitly went to Hephaestus, god of blacksmiths, forges and fire for Franky. I cant think of anything else tbh reblog with ur ideas if u got them

Give me headcanons you have for Luffy! Any headcanons will do

Oh geez be ready for some low key edgy ig. Some of these ive wanted to write for a whILe. Also I'm on my phone and I cant see the whole ask so I'm juat gonna do headcanons and add stuff if I need to after posting.

-Oda says hes drawn luffys mom before, and hes never rlly met his parents before obviously. Its a bit of a long shot but I kinda thing hes the son of a world noble, and dragon was a slave for a period of time; luffy was neglected as a child (cuz tenryyubito fucking SUCK) until Garp was like 'oh wtf my son was a slave and was forced to have a child?? I must save ...child' (assuming dragon had escaped or something @ that point). And so Garp tells nobles to fuck off while taking his grandson (the nobles don't care cuz after they had him, they didn't like him cuz he was a mistake). And Garps like 'wait how do u raise children'... So he tried to leave Luffy w some ppl hes met before. Might i add this is why hes so protective of the ppl he knows and how he said that one thing after ace and sabo saved him from blujam and theyre like why tf didn't u say anything and he was like 'cuz being alone is more painful than being hurt'

-kinda pt.2 to the last one. Dragon low key just follows his son around. Like, come on, what were the chances they'd see eachother in Loguetown? 100% planned. Otherwise why were they even in east blue in the first place? Gotta say tho, they don't know exactly where Luffy is just the general area. I mean Robin just happened to run into them over the timeskip. Sabo happened to be there in Dressrosa. I would say Iva's whole thing in impel down was an example but idk he just went there either cuz he was caught or cuz he was freeing other ppl. Its different.

-ive mentioned this before but. Jinbe's main purpose in the crew is anger management for Luffy. My evidence? Post-war, and WCI. He literally had to try and get his composure to be able to fight Katakuri and it took ...time. Jinbe gets him to think rationally in desprate situations; not only is Jinbe a helmsman, he covers for one of Luffy's weaknesses.

- he can see better in just right eye than his left

-luffy is afraid of akainu but definitely won't admit it (remember that one scene in fishman island). Phantom pains.

-what is a good nights sleep

-stay strong for his crew. If something bad happens and he gets upset in front of his crew, he'll just fuckin rocket off somewhere else cuz 'dont look I'm not supposed to be weak'.

-sometimes he just, stares at the ocean or the sky, thinking about nothing.

-the whole thing with the observation haji? Rayleigh said he can sense ppls emotions. Definitely a natural thing, hes had that since he was a teeny boye. He knows what to say and how to say it. Maybe he doesn't know why someone feels some way but he usually knows how to fix it (unless its like a physical condition, then its just... Cram meat down their throat). Example being 'WHAT DO YOU REALLY WANT, SANJI?!' (i can't remember the exact line sry)

-the opposite of ambidextrous. Dude luffy has zero hand-eye coordination when it comes to slow, precise movements. He can do other stuff like eating and fighting with both hands tho.

-constantly starving, obviously. Literally all he eats turns into energy, which he uses up three times as fast as most humans cuz of his devil fruit. But he can digest just as quickly so its ok; he just cant stay caught up with it so he's always hungry anyways.

-if he had sea stone cuffs on all the time hed be as muscley as zoro. and then witht hem off, hed accidentally just shatter things when picking them up. Like barely any self control until he got used to it. (*glass falling on the floor* "sorry Sanji" *more glass breaking* "fuck sorry haha-" "sTOP SMILING UR DOING IT ON PURPOSE ARENT YOU") (hes not he just thinks its funny that every time he grabs the cup to drink it shatters half way to his face)

-legitimately convinced he doesn't have a mom, absolutely zero sex ed plus hes definitely ace so he doesnt care. Doesnt rlly understand sanji's whole lovey dovey thing and the nosebleeds but goes with it anyways. 'After all, usopp does it too so shouldnt I?'
